Designing an incubation and acceleration program for social entrepreneurs

Summary
We designed an incubation and acceleration program for social entrepreneurs and NPOs spinning off social entrepreneurship activities in Indonesia, Tanzania, and Kyrgyzstan in partnership with a Malaysia-based foundation and an Indonesia-based NPO.
Story
We co-developed the program structure and curriculum with the Jakarta-based non-profit organization, identified local and international world-class trainers, mentors, and speakers; and rolled out the program in Indonesia, Tanzania, and Kyrgyzstan from its initiation to the Demo Day at the end of the acceleration phase.
The program involved lectures, training sessions, group mentoring, 1-to-1 mentoring sessions, and hands-on exercises to support the social entrepreneurs in developing and refining their social business plan.
Conclusion
The program attracted hundreds of applications, enrolled over a hundred social entrepreneurs in its incubation phase, and supported about 20 of them in the acceleration phase. Several social entrepreneurs received funding upon completion of the program in order to implement their ideas and turn them into ground initiatives.
