Rania Barakat-Batmani
Rania Barakat-Batmani leads Dunecrest's Ecosystem Synergy practice. A cross-sector leader with more than 23 years of experience across the private, public and nonprofit sectors, she specialises in strategic engagement, initiative design and execution, and mobilising actors and capital around common goals. Rania combines systems thinking with delivery — synthesising complexity into clear, compelling narratives that move policy and business audiences toward decision.
Based in Amman, Rania brings deep experience connecting capital with need, leading donor mapping, business planning, and proposal development for non-profit organisations across thematic areas including monitoring and evaluation, employment and job creation, education, human rights, governance, gender equality, and social accountability. She has mobilized funding from a range of bilateral and multilateral donors, developing high-value proposals and concept notes that connect institutional funders to on-the-ground priorities.
As a National Education Specialist with leading United Nations agencies, Rania advanced system-level initiatives with Jordan's Ministry of Education — including monitoring and evaluation frameworks, crisis-sensitive planning, and sector analysis to support large-scale reform — working across government counterparts, technical working groups, and external partners while producing decision-oriented materials and thought leadership to build advocacy and stakeholder alignment. She also advised the Ministry on KG2 universalisation, designing a nationwide diagnostic to shape national policy and, through multi-stakeholder facilitation, co-leading the revision of kindergarten regulations and minimum standards.
Rania's earlier career reflects the same instinct for building coalitions and unlocking value across organisations. She advised on resource mobilisation and advocacy at Save the Children Jordan; shaped corporate strategy at Dar Abu Abdullah; and held senior leadership positions at the Jordan Media Institute, where she cultivated strategic partnerships — including with the Higher Education Accreditation Commission — and, as Acting Director, guided the launch of its Master's in Journalism and New Media programme in partnership with the Board of Directors and senior team. She began her career at Thomson Reuters, holding strategy, business development, finance, sales, marketing and customer support roles in New York, Geneva, London, and Cairo.
Rania holds an MSc in International Relations from Georgetown University and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the American University of Beirut.
